Biography

Richard von Weizsäcker was born on 15 April 1920 in the New Castle in Stuttgart, the son of diplomat Ernst von Weizsäcker, a member of the noted Weizsäcker family, and his wife Marianne (née von Graevenitz). Ernst von Weizsäcker was a career diplomat and a high-ranking official in the Foreign Ministry in the 1930s.
